HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy today
positively agreed to the proposal to continue all the ongoing programmes under
the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS). The
Chief Minister will write to the Government of India that all the ongoing
programmes which were sanctioned earlier will have to be treated under the
earlier NREGS norms and all the new programmes will be under the revised norms
announced by the Government of India.
Under the NREGS, so far Rs.21,452 crs have been utilised
in Andhra Pradesh which is a record. 93.7 per cent households were provided
wage employment. All works are being executed through Gram Panchayats.
Meanwhile the Chief Minister wanted the Indira Jala Prabha
programme to be expedited wherever it is feasible. The officials said that
drilling depths are increasing in several districts. Failure rate high in
certain districts due to higher depths and access to blocks for taking drilling
machinery is also one of the constraints.
52 lakh rural landless poor covered under AABY in AP
HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister Mr N Kiran Kumar Reddy today
directed the officials to rehabilitate all the SC families in Lakshmipet
village of Vangara Mandal of Srikakulam District under the Milk Mission and
Indira Jala Prabha programmes etc. It may be recalled that there were clashes
between two communities in this village recently.
The Chief Minister also agreed to the proposal to open 100
Mandal Samakhya Bhavans on a single day 1st January, 2013 constructed under the
Aam Aadmi Bhima Yojana.
Under Aam Aadmi Bhima Yojana (AABY), 52 lakh Rural
landless agricultural labourers are covered which is the highest in the
country. The operations by Zilla Samakhyas through call centres are proved to
be very successful. While the State Government’s contribution is Rs.227 crs, Rs.597
crs distributed to poor families.
