Director, TATA Steel Processing and Distribution Limited Mr.Sandipan
Chakravorty called on the Chief Minister Mr.N.Kiran Kumar Reddy at the Camp
Office on Friday. CII has setup a Development Council with an objective to
work in select naxal affected districts to create employment and
self–employment opportunities. The members of the delegation explained to the
Chief Minister that the focus of their work is to identify skills opportunities
based on local needs and natural resources.
Most of the districts identified are in the Eastern Region
- West Bengal, Odisha, Jharkhand and Chattisgarh and Khammam and Visakhapatnam
in Andhra Pradesh. CII has now prepared district development plans for Khammam
and Visakhapatnam. CII is keen to initiate few development projects in these
districts with the support of Government of Andhra Pradesh and local District
administration.
These district development plans brought out details of
the jobs and identified the list of the industries which have potential in the
local districts and infrastructure that need to be created in the districts.
The delegation requested the Government of Andhra Pradesh
to form a joint taskforce with CII to initiate the development projects in
these two districts, which would help to monitor the progress. The delegation
expressed their willingness to work with Government in areas of Education and
Livelihoods which consists of Self Employment, Promoting industry in the local
district, strengthening the local industry through trainings and workshops and
Skill development.
