HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister Dr. K Rosiah today had a one
to one meeting with the Chairman of Tata Group of Industries and Companies, Mr.
Ratan Tata at Adibhatla Special Economic Zone (SEZ), where he launched First
Sikorsky S-92 Helicopter Cabin made in India by the Tata Advanced System. The
Chief Minister lauded the vast industrial empire built by Tatas which has
become the backbone of India's progress and requested Mr Ratan Tata to invest
in Andhra Pradesh in different sectors.
Mr Ratan Tata told the Chief Minister that the Tata Group
is interested in Steel, Power and Automobile sectors and positively responded
to the request of Dr Rosaiah. Mr Tata eulogised the Chief Minister for the
industrial progress Andhra Pradesh has made in the last few years and said the
State has a bright future. Mr Ratan Tata said Andhra Pradesh is sure to attract
huge investments. He also applauded the efforts being made by the Chief
Minister in attracting investors and boosting the industrial development and
making Andhra Pradesh the No.1 State in industrial development. The Chief
Minister said that economic development and employment generation are the twin
objectives of the State Government.
The Chief Minister told Mr Ratan Tata that he had the
privilege of meeting Jamshedji Tata and appreciated his vision for the
industrial development of the country. Dr Rosaiah said he came to know that
Tata Group has formed another Joint Venture with the Agasthya Helicopters Group
and is planning to set its manufacturing unit in India and the Group is
seriously considering Hyderabad for its location. The Chief Minister requested
Mr. Tata to finalise this venture at the earliest.
Dr Rosaiah said, in the past, land was surveyed by the
Tata Group for locating their unit, for Tata Nano Car Project. In view of the
growing automobile market in India and the increasing market share of Tata cars
of various models they might be requested to invest in the automotive sector in
the State, either in the outskirts of Hyderabad or any other location as per
their choice.
The Chief Minister told Mr Tata that Tata Group after
their take over of 'Corus' is one of the largest steel manufacturers in the
world and are looking to expand in India. He said as the Tata Project in Orissa
is getting delayed, Andhra Pradesh might consider to allot land required for
their steel plant either in Anantapur or Kadapa where suitable land is
available with rail connectivity to Bellary Iron Ore Mines and Krishnapatnam
Port.
The Chief
Minister told Mr Ratan Tata that keeping in view of the natural gas potential
in the KG basin, Andhra Pradesh has promoted Petroleum, Chemical and
Petrochemical Investment Region in the coastal area between Visakhapatnam and
Kakinada along 600 sq. kms of coastline. Natural Gas potential in the KG basin
is giving large scope for the growth of fertiliser plants, power plants, gas
based manufacturing industries. The Chief Minister also requested Mr Ratan Tata
to set up a chemical project in Andhra Pradesh. Mr Tata responded positively.
