HYDERABAD: The government has offered to facilitate
allotment of land for the Tatas Titanium Refinery project near Visakhapatnam or
other north coastal districts of Vizianagaram and Srikakulam where raw material
is available.
Chief Minister K. Rosaiah followed up his discussions with
Mr. Ratan Tata about the Titanium refinery project during his visit to city on
Sunday by writing a letter to him on Tuesday.
Mr. Tata while participating in the function to mark the
delivery of Sikorsky-92 helicopter cabin by the Tata Advanced Systems Ltd.,
located in the Aerospace SEZ on the city outskirts, appreciated the
infrastructure development and investment climate in the State.
Taking note of Mr. Tata's inclination to direct their
company's investments in various sectors in the State, the Chief Minister also
requested the Tata group chairman to consider the State for any future
expansion of their automotive projects and assured that the government would
provide the required support. The State could also be considered by the Tatas
for a steel plant for which suitable site in Anantapur or YSR Kadapa district
was available.
Seeking investments in the Petroleum, Chemical and
Petrochemical Investment Region (PCPIR) from the Tata Chemicals between
Visakhapatnam and Kakinada, and also in leather sector in Nellore district
where an International Leather Park was being developed with assistance of
Union Commerce Ministry, Mr. Rosaiah said they would be happy if Tatas would
set up the anchor industry in the leather processing and manufacturing cluster.
