Dr.K.Rosaiah, Hon’ble Chief Minister of AP launching “BADI BATA” programme at
camp office.
HYDERABAD: Chief Minister K Rosaiah today launched ‘Badibata’,
meant to enrol every five-year-old child in the school.
Rosaiah, Secondary Education Minister D Varaprasad and
Minority Welfare Minister Ahmadullah Syed taught the children the alphabets in
Telugu, English and Urdu respectively and formally launched the programme.
On the occasion, the Chief Minister said that the objective
of the programme was to see that all children should go to school. He wished
that the Badibata programme becomes a success, and everyone in the State should
become literate.
Though the state government is striving hard to achieve the
goal, it is still lagging behind states like Kerala, the Chief Minister
lamented.
To achieve full literacy in the state, there was a need to
set targets and achieve them in a time-bound manner, he felt.
According to officials, the programme would continue up to
June 27 with the aim to enrol every five-year- old child in the regular school
and those above five years in bridge schools.
Every day a campaign would be taken up in villages and
towns and the children would be enrolled. A mass learning programme on June 21
and sports competitions will be held on June 24 and 25.
