by the armed forces during the devastating floods in Kurnool and Mahabubnagar
in 2009 and on other occasions where we have sought their help. We look
forward to your continued support and help. We enjoy cordial relations with
Headquarters Andhra Sub Area with General KD Singh and his staff at Andhra Sub
Area always responded positively when my government has interacted with them on
various issues in the past. My government has taken up number of welfare
schemes for the upliftment of the poor in the fields of employment generation,
food security, housing, health etc. Similarly, we are committed to the welfare
of ex-servicemen also. Due reservation is provided in public employment,
education, self employment schemes, land allotments etc. Recently we have also
enhanced the ex-gratia amounts to the dependents of military personnel who are
killed in action and disabled in action.
Andhra Pradesh has benefited immensely from the presence
of armed forces personnel, both serving and retired, in the State. I would like
to assure you that my government has the highest regard for the armed forces
personnel and will always look after the best interests of serving and retired
service personnel in the State. I am extremely happy that the military
recruitment has been taken up in Karimnagar and Warangal during the year 2010.
I would request that more of these rallies be held in naxal affected and
backward districts, so as to wean away the youth being attracted towards
unsocial and violent activities. My government is prepared to provide logistic
support to make such rallies a success. I wish the conference all the success
and hope that it will result in enhanced mutual understanding and cooperation
between civil administration and the armed forces and help resolve most of the
long pending issues listed on the agenda for today.
