4 descendents of fifth and sixth generation identified
To be honoured at valedictory celebrations at
Penukonda
HYDERABAD: Four descendents of the legendary ruler of
Vijayanagaram empire Srikrishnadevaraya would be honoured at the valedictory of
his 500 {+t} {+h} coronation day celebrations at Penukonda in Anantapur district
from August 6 to 8.
They are the fifth and sixth generation descendents whose
details were not readily available with him, said the A. P. Cultural Council
Chairman R.V. Ramanamurthy. He told a press conference that Union Ministers S.M.
Krishna (External Affairs), Sushil Kumar Shinde (Power), Veerappa Moily (Law)
and Selja (Tourism) had agreed to participate in the celebrations on different
dates. Chief Minister K. Rosaiah would be present on August 8. Mr. Ramanamurthy
said a life size bronze statute of Srikrishnadevaraya would be unveiled at
Penukonda fort. The other programmes in the valedictory include a drama on the
emperor by playwright C.S. Rao and a dance ballet
specially composed by music directors S. Vasu Rao and Koti
He said that the valedictory was also being organised at Udayagiri (July 17 and
18), Kondaveedu in Guntur district (July 18 and 19), Srikakulam in Krishna
district (July 22 to 24), Kadapa (July 25 and 26), Khammam (July 26 and 27),
Potnur in Visakhapatnam district (July 30 and 31) and Kurnool (August 2 and 3).
