protecting operations of IT, ITES sector

HYDERABAD: The steps taken by the State government to help
safeguard the operations of IT and ITES companies in the State amidst the
prevailing situation of agitations were appreciated by the Prime Minister’s
Office.
T. K. A. Nair, Principal Secretary to Prime Minister, in a
letter to Chief Secretary S.V. Prasad described Andhra Pradesh as a stable State
with focus on industrialisation and economic development.
The Prime Minister’s Office also quoted NASSCOM president
Som Mittal’s letter praising the Chief Minister K. Rosaiah for initiating
confidence building measures and promising support to the IT and ITES industry
after a team of senior people from IT industry met Mr. Rosaiah and government
officials and explained the adverse impact on the industry due to frequent
agitations.
Single contact point
Apart from nominating T. Krishna Prasad, IG (Police
Computer Services) to be the single contact point for the industry, government
also asked Hyderabad, Cyberabad and Visakhapatnam Police Commissioners to post
policemen round the clock at IT layouts, provide perimeter patrolling by armed
police, erect road barricades at the entrance points of IT layouts and keep a
strict vigil and security surveillance.
The Chief Minister meanwhile in a meeting with officials to
review overall situation directed them to provide full protection and support to
all industries, trade and business for their smooth functioning.
