Preparedness for Rabi and procurement of Kharif & Rabi produce
The State Government has decided to conduct convergence
meetings in the districts on 30th of this month on two important issues viz.
preparedness for Rabi and procurement of Kharif & Rabi produce. Accordingly,
the Chief Minister, Dr.K.Rosaiah has written letters to all the Ministers on
Tuesday to attend the meetings in the respective districts on that day, to
guide the concerned departments on the above issues. The Chief Minister hoped
that their valuable suggestions and capable leadership would help in steering
the district towards successful Rabi season and the smooth procurement of
food-grains.
In his letter to the Ministers, the Chief Minister
expressed his happiness as this year has been very good to the farmers due to
bountiful rainfall and as a result bumper food-grain production is expected and
that proper planning and coordination between Agriculture and Allied
departments is required to ensure that farmers reap a good harvest.
“The Kharif 2010 food-grain production is estimated at an
all time high of 112 lakh metric tones. The ensuing Rabi production is planned
for 102 lakh metric tones which again would be the highest till now. In order
to achieve the above target of Rabi 2010, there is a great need to plan proper
coordination between the departments concerned so as to ensure smooth supply of
inputs, mainly seeds, fertilizers, credit to farmers, electricity supply and
water release from the projects”, the Chief Minister said. Besides, he
stressed the need to ensure procurement of food-grains is done in a systematic
manner, duly ensuring Minimum Support Price to the farmers, the Chief Minister
added.
