Ladies & Gentlemen
I am very happy to be here to-day amidst all of you. I
thank you very much for having given me the opportunity to inaugurate this
facility of Model N.
I congratulate Mr.Zack Rinat, CEO and his team on this
happy occasion.
Model N India is a vital component in Model N's expansion
strategy of placing fully functional operational hubs in each geographical area
to cover sales, marketing, product development, solution delivery, and customer
operations, along with infrastructure to support a rapidly growing organization.
Their success in the U.S. and Europe is predicated on hiring domain experts who
understand the business and can partner with customers in instituting best
practices, making Hyderabad an ideal location for Model N to expand its global
presence.
I am very happy that Model N is planning to invest over 25
million USD in the next 2 years to expand the Hyderabad offices for creating
several jobs in Andhra Pradesh.
The growing presence of niche software product companies
like Model N has helped Andhra Pradesh to be the leader in IT space. Our
industry friendly measures and policies have helped global companies like Model
N to make long term investments in Hyderabad.
I am very happy to inform Government of Andhra Pradesh will
announce its new IT Policy shortly.
Andhra Pradesh has emerged as a State that provides the
right climate for the growth of IT business and is now one of the most preferred
destinations in the Country. Andhra Pradesh is at present home for Indian IT
majors such as TCS, Infosys, Wipro, HCL, Mahindra Satyam, Cognizant and others.
Andhra Pradesh is also home for MNC IT giants and Fortune 500 companies like
Microsoft, Google, IBM, Oracle, DELL, Motorola, Deloitte, Convergys, UBS, Bank
of America, HSBC etc.
ICT sector in the State of Andhra Pradesh has grown by
leaps and bounds during the last decade. The direct employment created by ICT
sector in 1999 was 12,000 and this increased to 2,51,786, that is an increase of
20 times by 2009. There were 194 ICT companies in the State of Andhra Pradesh in
1999 and they rose by 6.5 times reaching a figure of 1,206 companies now. The
ICT export turnover in 1999 was Rs.284 crores (56.8 million US dollars), which
is Rs.32,500 crores (6200 million US Dollars) in 2009, recording an increase of
110 times.
Keeping the overall trends of growth of IT sector in the
Country and our average growth rate which has been always higher than the
national growth rate, State Government conservatively aims to achieve Rs.70,000
crores (US $ 14000 million) export turnover and an additional direct IT
employment generation of 1,25,000 by 2015.
For ICT industry to set up their office and operate in a
most optimal manner, creation of physical infrastructure of international
standards is a pre-requisite. In this direction, Government of Andhra Pradesh
has taken all initiatives to provide all comforts to the ICT industry through
creation of “plug and play” and “walk to work” kind of office environment
through encouraging setting of IT Special Economic Zones in various parts of the
State.
I am very proud to say that in Andhra Pradesh, we got
highest number of 57 IT SEZs as against total number of 351 IT SEZs approved
by the Government of India in the Country.
When all SEZs are fully operational, in the next 3 years,
these will create more than 100 million Square Feet of office space and about
10 lakh direct employment in IT Sector.
Government of Andhra Pradesh shall extend all the requisite
assistance and support to the ICT industry and infrastructure developers in this
regard.
I wish Model N a grand success in its future endeavors.
