CM reviewed the latest situation following heavy rains
Chief Minister Dr. K. Rosaiah today directed the District
Collectors concerned to take all precautionary steps in view of heavy to very
heavy rainfall forecast especially in the coastal districts.
The Chief Minister Dr. Rosaiah reviewed the latest
situation following heavy rains in some of the coastal districts with Chief
Secretary, Mr.S.V.Prasad, Commissioner, Disaster Management, Mr.T.Radha at camp
office today. He also directed them to be in constant touch with the district
Collectors concerned regarding the preparedness to meet any eventuality arising
out of the situation and take appropriate action whenever and wherever
necessary.
Since there are reports of likely heavy rains, the Chief
Minister directed the officials to instruct all the line departments to
coordinate and see that normalcy is restored in all the rain-affected areas. Dr
Rosaiah wanted the officials to ensure supply of safe and pure drinking water
in all the areas. "Prevention is always better than cure", he told the
officials cautioning against spread of any epidemics in the rain-affected
areas.

Accroding to preliminary reports as furnished by the
Commissioner, Disaster Management, the District Collector East Godavari
informed that, Control room opened at Collector’s office and at all Divisional
offices in the District. The District Collector has conducted wireless
conference with RDOs., Tahsildars, JDA’s and his mandal level functionaries,
Asst Director of Horticulture and HOs and instructed them to be vigilant and to
concentrate on low lying area and areas likely to be inundated. Necessary
precautionary measures are being taken up.

Srikakulam, Vizianagaram, Visakhapatnam, West Godavri,
Krishna, Guntur, Prakasam districts have reported no damages as of now and are
taking precautionary measures, the Commissioner said.
Heavy to very heavy rainfall would occur at many places
over Coastal Andhra Pradesh during next 48 hours. Heavy rain would occur at a
few places over Rayalaseema during the same period.
