Heavy Rains

HYDERABAD: The Chief Minister Dr Y S Rajasekhara Reddy today asked the Commissioner, Disaster Management and other departmental heads to be on the alert about the heavy rains that is lashing various parts of the State. The Chief Minister telephonically directed all departments concerned to be on vigil against flash floods due to heavy downpour and inundation of low lying areas.

There is likelihood of short circuits and water entering houses in the low lying areas which are being lashed by heavy rains since last 48 hours. He told them to instruct the concerned officials in the those areas to be on the alert. The Chief Minister also asked the District Collectors to shift people residing in the low lying areas to safer places it the area is likely to be inundated. He wants them to act instead of waiting till the water enter the area.

The Chief Minister instructed all the departments to work in tandem to mitigate the suffering of the people. He asked the Commissioner, GHMC and other officials to constantly monitor the situation in the city, particularly in the low lying areas and flush out the water as and when needed. He wants the officials to see that people are not put to any difficulties. He wants the GHMC Commissioner to set up a control room whenever required and keep vigil round the clock.
